Meet IGNOREATYOURPERIL

In this episode of Barbour: It’s a Way of Life, we joined vintage clothing fanatic and all-around charmer, Nigel Cleaver, at his menswear shop, IGNOREATYOURPERIL. Nigel and his wife Ali’s pre-loved classic menswear business is located within the cosy confines of Wollaston, Northamptonshire, and glows with character as soon as you step through its door.

METAL DETECTING TIPS

Ellie and Lucie from @Romanfound tell us the top tips for responsible metal detecting.

Step 1: Get the landowner’s permission. In the UK this can be a verbal or written contract.

Step 2: Keep the coil low to the ground, sweeping back and forth slowly.

Step 3: Listen carefully for interesting signals and differences in tones. Once you get a signal use the pin-point function to locate.

Step 4: Use a pinpointer to hone into the artefact.

Step 5: Dig carefully and fill all holes to ensure the land is not disturbed after excavation. Ellie suggests a 3-sided plug with a hinge for grass to survive.
